Before using Phantomy AI on your Mac, you need to grant two permissions: camera access and accessibility control. Follow steps 0-2 below in order.
Step 0: Install Phantomy AI
Before anything else, make sure the app is properly installed:
Open the downloaded .dmg file
Drag Phantomy AI into the Applications folder
Eject the DMG
Open Phantomy AI from your Applications folder (not from the DMG)
⚠️ Important: Always launch Phantomy AI from your Applications folder, not directly from the DMG file. Running it from the DMG can cause permission issues.
Step 1: Allow Camera Access (Mac)
Phantomy AI needs access to your camera to detect hand gestures.
How to enable on Mac:
When you first launch Phantomy AI, a popup will appear
Click "OK" or "Allow" to grant camera access
If you missed it: Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Camera
Check the box next to Phantomy AI
Click "OK" when prompted to grant camera access on Mac
Step 2: Allow Phantomy to Control Your Mac
Phantomy AI needs permission to control your presentation (send keyboard shortcuts to change slides).
How to enable on Mac:
Open System Preferences (or System Settings on newer macOS)
Go to Security & Privacy → Privacy tab
Click on Accessibility in the left sidebar
Click the lock icon 🔒 at the bottom and enter your password
Find Phantomy AI in the list and check the box next to it
If Phantomy AI isn't in the list, click the "+" button and add it
Mac System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Accessibility Check the box next to Phantomy AI to allow it to control your computer
⚠️ Troubleshooting: If you launched the software and it says "Starting" but asks you for camera permission and it doesn't actually start, simply give access ,stop and relaunch the software, and it should work again.
🪟 Using Windows? Steps 0-2 above are Mac-specific. Windows setup steps are coming to this guide soon — in the meantime, if you run into a permissions prompt on launch, allow camera and accessibility/automation access when Windows asks, and reach out to Info@phantomyai.com if you get stuck.
